Debbie has a successful background in senior PA positions both in the private sector and NHS. She has held positions in general accounting and in senior management working for a number of years in production planning and complex site management. She trained in complementary therapies, has a Diploma in anatomy and physiology and ran her own complementary therapy practice alongside working in the NHS as a part-time secretary in support of the Chronic Pain team in Harrogate. Moving then to work for a chronic pain specialist at the BUPA Hospital in Leeds until 2004 when she saw an opportunity to set up Turner Medical Practice Management (Turner-mpm).
Over the years, Debbie has worked with many consultants covering a wide range of specialties. Her forte is in working with established consultants to re-structure their practices and working with new-starters who need good support and advice in the early stages of setting up in private practice. A major part of the business now is in the field of medico-legal practice management and medico-legal reporting, where Debbie and her team successfully manage complex case-loads for medico-legal experts. Debbie has successfully worked with consultants to guide them through the early stages of their practice organisation and, over the years, successfully grow their practices.
Debbie understands the importance of providing an efficient, reliable, cost-effective medical secretarial service to consultant surgeons, physicians and medico-legal experts. Consultants need a supportive practice manager / medical secretary who understands not only their specialty, but the requirements of their patients and other intermediaries, whilst keeping a close eye on the 'business end' to ensure practice profit is achieved and business momentum maintained. Debbie only works with colleagues who are communicative and emotionally sensitive, assertive and autonomous in their roles within the business.
In her spare time (although admittedly, this is not as often as she would like!) Debbie enjoys walking - especially with her husband and the family dog - sailing, Pilates, travel, cooking, reading, photography and spending time with family and friends.
